About the Role
The Assistant Category Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting and executing category strategies to enhance sales, profitability, and market share. This position involves managing product assortments, monitoring category performance, and collaborating closely with various teams to drive business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of category strategies aimed at increasing sales and profitability.
- Manage product assortment ensuring alignment with customer needs and market trends.
- Track and analyze category metrics including sales figures, margins, and inventory status.
- Assist in pricing strategy execution to maintain competitive positioning.
- Establish and sustain strong partnerships with suppliers and vendors, supporting negotiation efforts on pricing and promotional terms.
- Monitor supplier performance to guarantee product availability and timely delivery.
- Support inventory management by maintaining optimal stock levels to prevent shortages or surpluses.
- Work with supply chain teams to support demand forecasting and replenishment planning.
- Help coordinate promotional campaigns, seasonal offers, and pricing initiatives for increased category visibility and sales.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to enhance promotional effectiveness and maintain promotional schedules.
- Conduct market research to understand customer preferences and competitive activities.
- Prepare and analyze sales, inventory, and promotional performance reports to recommend category improvements.
- Engage cross-functionally with merchandising, logistics, marketing, and sales to align category plans with overall business goals.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in category management, merchandising, buying, retail operations, e-commerce, or FMCG sectors.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools is highly preferred.
