About the Client and Role
A boutique architecture and interior design firm located in Los Angeles is looking to recruit a skilled Architectural Designer. The company integrates architecture, interior architecture, and interior design into a unified approach across residential projects ranging from small renovations to large custom constructions. Their offices serve Los Angeles and Northern California with a growing project portfolio and emphasize a personalized and hands-on design process tailored to client lifestyles.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of design concepts and schematic designs across diverse projects.
- Collaborate in generating construction document sets throughout all phases from development to permit and construction administration.
- Coordinate with consultants and act as the primary point of communication for contractors and consultants during document preparation and construction.
- Design and develop interior architectural elements including spatial layouts, cabinetry, millwork, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, finish and material schedules, and lighting.
- Perform site visits to monitor construction progress and verify alignment with drawings and design intent.
- Work directly with founding partners on design decisions during development phases.
- Manage permitting procedures, respond to plan checks, and ensure code compliance for residential projects.
- Contribute to maintaining a studio culture that prioritizes thoughtful design.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) or Interior Architecture.
- Three to five years of professional architectural or architectural interior design experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of building systems, construction techniques, and materials.
- Knowledgeable in building codes, zoning laws, and accessibility standards.
- Proven experience in developing construction documentation.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Depth in interior architecture including millwork, finish details, lighting plans, and material coordination.
- Experience with single-family residential projects, preferably custom or luxury homes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Experience with wildfire reconstruction or fire-resistant building methods is advantageous.
