About the Role

Join Suncorp Group's Chief Risk Office team based in Christchurch, New Zealand, where collaboration and mutual support are central to our approach. Our team leverages varied expertise to challenge business processes, fostering innovative, commercially sound risk and compliance outcomes. This role within the Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Team is pivotal in driving and focusing efforts on compliance and regulatory matters by developing and overseeing the regulatory assurance program across all Suncorp New Zealand businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer advisory services, oversight, and challenge in all second line compliance risk oversight and assurance management areas for New Zealand businesses.
  • Execute periodic and thematic compliance reviews based on risk evaluations, regulatory obligations, and control data, reporting findings to relevant teams.
  • Critically assess the design and effectiveness of processes, frameworks, controls, as well as governance and management information systems within Suncorp New Zealand.
  • Proactively identify significant regulatory and compliance risks and collaborate with business units to address any deficiencies.
  • Oversee the proper integration of regulatory change management, providing reports on its operational effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships within Suncorp New Zealand entities, becoming a key adviser for business decision-making and initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of seven years' relevant experience in assurance, compliance, audit, regulatory affairs, or legal roles is preferred.
  • Experience within financial services or insurance sectors, or professional consultancy backgrounds, is highly valued.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and interpersonal abilities, capable of clearly communicating compliance requirements in practical business terms.
  • Extensive senior-level commercial experience in corporate or professional services environments.
  • A curious mindset with the readiness to apply innovative solutions to routine challenges.
