Internship Overview
This internship offers hands-on experience in metallurgy and materials research within India's pioneering private R&D company, specializing in providing tailored end-to-end solutions to industrial challenges in metallurgy and materials science.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in melting and casting processes involving ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys.
- Oversee and meticulously document trials related to melting, alloying, casting, heat treatment, and related manufacturing steps.
- Assist in planning and designing experiments, preparing detailed experimental procedures, defining process parameters, material needs, and testing strategies.
- Ensure adherence to approved protocols, safety guidelines and process parameters during experiments and production trials.
- Accurately record observations, process-related data, testing outcomes, deviations, and technical insights.
- Compile experimental and technical reports, trial summaries, presentations, and maintain project documentation.
- Facilitate material testing and characterization activities across mechanical, chemical, metallographic, dimensional, and other relevant examinations.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of process standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, inspection plans, testing protocols, and quality control documentation.
- Engage in defect and root cause analysis, failure investigations, and troubleshooting challenges in melting, casting, heat treatment, and material processing.
- Propose improvements and corrective measures based on experimental results, test data, and technical evaluations.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, design, procurement, quality assurance, laboratory, and vendor teams to ensure timely deliverables.
- Maintain comprehensive records of raw materials, sample sets, experiments, test results, photographs, and overall project progress.
- Adhere strictly to workplace, laboratory safety protocols, quality standards, confidentiality agreements, and documentation requirements.
Candidate Eligibility
Candidates eligible must be Mechanical Engineering students or related disciplines available for a full-time, in-office internship lasting 6 months, commencing between July 21, 2026 and August 25, 2026. Applicants should possess suitable skills and interests aligned with metallurgy and materials research.
Educational Background
- Diploma holders in Metallurgy, Foundry Technology, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
- Undergraduates (B.Tech./B.E.) in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or similar disciplines.
- Bachelor’s degrees in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or closely related areas.
- Postgraduates (M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc.) in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Foundry Technology, Manufacturing, or allied disciplines.
- Ph.D. candidates or holders specializing in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Process Metallurgy, Physical Metallurgy, Casting, or associated fields.
Compensation and Benefits
Interns will receive a monthly stipend ranging from INR 10,000 to INR 20,000. Successful participants will earn a certificate acknowledging their contributions.
Additional Information
The internship is full-time and must be performed onsite in Howrah, West Bengal. Safety and confidentiality protocols are paramount throughout the engagement.
