This opportunity is open for a Water Infrastructure Engineer position within our national water team based in Christchurch or Wellington, with other company locations also considered for the right candidate.

Role Details

The position involves supporting water infrastructure projects through all stages, from initial planning and investigations to detailed design and construction assistance. You will collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver technically sound and practical solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, engineering design, and execution of water infrastructure projects, including water supply, sewage, and stormwater management systems.
  • Contribute to designing pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and related infrastructure components.
  • Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and produce documentation supporting project objectives.
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications compliant with project requirements.
  • Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
  • Support adherence to quality assurance, safety protocols, and risk management across projects.
  • Engage effectively with internal stakeholders and assist in client communications during project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with clients to secure necessary projects.
  • Operate in office and on-site environments, including coordination with virtual teams across national and international offices.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate design engineers, fostering their professional growth.

Candidate Profile

  • Holds a relevant university degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Has a minimum of four years’ experience in water infrastructure design or project delivery within consulting or infrastructure sectors.
  • Possesses knowledge of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems along with their design standards.
  • Capable of conducting engineering analyses and contributing to feasible, constructible solutions.
  • Exhibits strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrates a proactive attitude towards learning and career development.
  • Familiar with engineering design tools such as 12D, Civil3D, AutoCAD, and GIS software.
  • Well-organized and able to effectively multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Shows initiative, ownership of responsibilities, and energetic self-motivation.
  • Flexible and adaptable when addressing challenges.

Work Environment
