Visual QC Inspector

Role Overview

The Visual QC Inspector will conduct thorough visual and final examinations of cast and forged components, ensuring strict adherence to customer demands, company quality protocols, and international quality standards including EN, ISO, ASME, and ASTM. This position plays a vital role in validating product quality prior to release either to clients or internal workshops in close collaboration with production and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily visual inspections of castings and forgings based on internal guidelines, client specifications, and global quality norms.
• Conduct critical dimensional checks according to technical drawings, specifications, and internal standards for routine production parts.
• Support the QC Engineer by helping prepare Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and quality inspection benchmarks.
• Review traceability and marking compliance aligned with quality procedures and client requirements.
• Document and maintain records pertaining to final and visual inspections.
• Administer special tests including Positive Material Identification (PMI) and hardness surveys as per customer criteria.
• Report deviations, rejections, and nonconformities directly to QC Engineer or Manager.
• Confirm the effectiveness of internal and external nonconformance reports (NCR) related to products.
• Maintain inspection documentation related to API 20A / 20B standards.
• Perform final product inspections in accordance with quality and customer standards.
• Assist the broader quality control team with inspections such as raw material and non-destructive evaluations when requested.
• Ensure environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping practices are upheld within the inspection zone.

Qualification Requirements

• Possession of ITI, Diploma, Degree, or similar qualification.
• Preferred certifications include ASNT Level II in Visual Inspection and ISO 9712.
• Additional preference for ASNT Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Penetrant Testing (PT).

Experience & Technical Expertise

• At least 5 years of working experience in visual inspection and quality control within the steel casting sector; experience with forging processes is advantageous.
• Proficient in understanding applicable material and inspection code standards such as ASME, ASTM, ISO, and EN norms.
• Familiar with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methodologies, specifically MT and PT.
• Skilled in performing dimensional inspections of cast and forged products.
• Practical use of portable testing devices including PMI and hardness measurement tools.

Additional Skills

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, inspection protocols, and testing procedures effectively.
• Strong grasp of MSS SP 55 standards and Scrata visual inspection techniques.
• Knowledge about common defects in castings and forged items.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Effective communication and documentation capabilities.
• Physically able to conduct field inspections, including working in restricted or elevated environments as necessary.
