Job description
Role Overview
This position is responsible for managing operations and maintenance (O&M) outsource partners and external vendors to meet business objectives focused on cost reduction and quality enhancement, while complying with governance guidelines. The role supports contract negotiations, service delivery improvements, and ensures effective management of service level agreements (SLAs) on behalf of Service Assurance within Telecel Ghana.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee efficient execution of O&M activities ensuring timelines are met.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with existing and new O&M vendors, clearly communicating expectations and responsibilities.
- Engage with vendors on pricing, quality checks, and performance improvements.
- Maintain thorough documentation of work orders and completed tasks for auditing purposes.
- Track all orders and monitor adherence to expected delivery dates.
- Coordinate safety requirements among subcontracts, engineering, and operations teams.
- Conduct safety inspections and assessments to verify compliance with health and safety standards.
- Verify and approve vendor invoices and purchase orders, maintaining auditable accounting records.
- Collaborate with regional managers to plan scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Monitor and control the Operation and Maintenance budget aligned with operational needs.
- Implement effective systems for processing and tracking work orders for O&M and Networks departments.
- Communicate with technicians and operations managers to ensure stakeholder satisfaction regarding maintenance schedules.
- Analyze operational data, identifying trends and concerns for management attention.
- Perform detailed assessments of site fuel consumption and report deviations to line management.
- Evaluate vendor compliance based on preventive maintenance analysis to improve power availability.
- Manage 21 RDU and fibre POP sites in collaboration with Regional Technical Managers and Field Engineers to support OPEX reduction initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective stakeholder management communication.
- Comprehensive understanding of telecommunication services, operational KPIs, and processes with a focus on customer experience.
- Capability to communicate effectively at various organizational levels.
- Familiarity with engineering functions and procedures.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in data analysis techniques.
- Basic expertise in Power BI and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
