About the Role
The Transaction Services team at BDO Ireland invites graduate trainees to join its structured graduate programme focused on corporate finance. This opportunity is designed for individuals aiming to launch a career in transaction advisory, gaining practical experience across mergers, acquisitions, disposals, and investment evaluations.
Trainees will collaborate with experienced professionals to advise on financial transactions, analyze financial data, conduct due diligence, and evaluate business performances to support client investment choices. The role offers exposure to varied industries and transaction types, facilitating the development of technical skills and commercial insight. Participants will receive extensive mentoring and training while managing meaningful responsibilities from the start.
Career development includes enhancing analytical capabilities, strengthening client interaction skills, engaging directly in financial due diligence, and progressing towards a recognized professional qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with financial due diligence by reviewing and scrutinizing financial information to support buy-side and sell-side transactions, identifying critical business factors and risks.
- Contribute to financial analysis and modeling efforts including trend evaluations and working capital reviews to inform transaction valuations.
- Develop and maintain client relationships to ensure high-quality support and service throughout transaction engagements.
- Support the preparation of thorough transaction reports, presentations, and client documentation with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
- Conduct market and industry research to provide informed context for transaction advice and decisions.
- Help manage multiple projects by coordinating information requests, monitoring deadlines, and assisting senior team members during transaction processes.
- Perform various ad-hoc transaction-related tasks including analysis, report generation, business development support, project administration, and other duties to assist the team.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Possession or expected completion of a 2.1 Honours Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or related fields.
- Commitment to pursuing professional qualifications such as ACA or ACCA.
- Demonstrable interest in Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Mergers & Acquisitions, or related disciplines through academic, practical, or extracurricular involvement.
- Strong analytical reasoning with the ability to interpret financial results, identify trends, and draw insightful conclusions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities to clearly present information and build professional relationships.
- A proactive learning attitude coupled with enthusiasm for understanding business operations and value creation.
- Good organizational and time management skills to juggle priorities efficiently in fast-paced settings.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within teams.
- Keen attention to detail and dedication to producing precise, high-quality work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with a desire to develop advanced financial modeling skills.
