TMS Functional Lead

Role Overview

Lead and oversee the complete logistics application portfolio, emphasizing Transportation Management Systems (TMS). This leadership role ensures smooth business operation, system enhancements, ongoing improvements, cost controls, and top-tier service quality. The position serves as the central communication link between logistics business units, IT departments, and technology providers to convert business needs into efficient functional solutions that add measurable value.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the suite of logistics applications including TMS, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP logistics modules, CRM systems, and system integration platforms.
• Collaborate closely with logistics and supply chain teams to gather, understand, and translate business requirements into actionable functional designs.
• Drive initiatives for TMS such as functional enhancements, new system implementations, integrations, and ongoing process refinements.
• Champion application optimization, innovation, and continuous process improvement within logistics operations.
• Ensure logistics applications maintain high availability, stability, security, and alignment with business demands.
• Create and regularly update the logistics application catalogue, detailing functionalities, ownership, service-level agreements (SLAs), and associated costs.
• Oversee relationships with technology vendors, monitor SLA compliance, and guarantee quality service delivery.
• Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting, and managing capital and operational expenditures (CAPEX/OPEX), focusing on cost efficiency.
• Ensure all logistics applications adhere to internal policies, information security requirements, and relevant regulatory standards.
• Serve as the primary functional intermediary connecting business users, IT teams, technology vendors, and implementation partners.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of five years’ experience working with enterprise applications, emphasizing logistics and supply chain systems.
• Demonstrated hands-on functional expertise with TMS, WMS, and ERP logistics modules.
• Proven experience in TMS lifecycle activities including implementation, integration, configuration, enhancement, and support.
• Previous roles such as Functional Lead, TMS Lead, Application Manager, or Business Systems Lead in relevant domains.
• Comprehensive knowledge of logistics and supply chain workflows with focus on transportation operations.
• Strong background in vendor management, SLA governance, and ownership of applications.
• Experience managing budgets, CAPEX/OPEX, and executing cost optimization strategies.
• Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement, communication, data analysis, and problem resolution.
