Job description

About Cosmo Technologies

Cosmo Technologies is dedicated to inspiring children through innovative technologies and a nurturing community. Its flagship product, the JrTrack Kids Smartwatch, is an all-in-one device acting as a phone, GPS tracker, and music player. Managed via the Mission Control Parent App, it empowers parents to configure safety alerts and contact lists. The device has earned recognition as a leading kids' wearable by PCMag and others, reflecting the company's rapid growth.

Role Overview

The company seeks a Technical Program Manager specializing in new products to guide the launch of connected hardware innovations. This position involves leading multifaceted programs that encompass software, hardware, manufacturing, and business operations. The manager will hold responsibility for the comprehensive timeline of product introductions, aligning efforts across engineering, product, marketing, customer support, and operations to ensure timely, high-quality launches. Coordination with engineering and hardware project managers is essential to address dependencies, mitigate risks, and maintain clarity throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the comprehensive program timeline for launching new products, integrating engineering, manufacturing, and business milestones from conception to market release.
  • Facilitate alignment between Engineering, Product, Marketing, Customer Support, Operations, and Commercial teams to confirm launch readiness and clear role ownership.
  • Identify and communicate key milestones, readiness checkpoints, and decision points; proactively surface risks and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Technical Program Manager to link software and firmware progress, release preparation, and engineering risks with overall project timelines.
  • Work closely with the China Hardware Program Lead to align manufacturing schedules, sample availability, certification steps, and production risks within the global plan.
  • Occasionally participate in after-hours coordination calls with international manufacturing and engineering partners during critical phases.
  • Manage cross-functional risks and trade-offs, facilitating timely decisions on scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Ensure non-engineering teams understand their deliverables and deadlines to support a successful product launch.
  • Establish structured communications and thorough documentation to capture changes, decisions, and dependencies transparently.
  • Note: Peak development and production periods may require virtual meetings with Chinese partners around 9:00 p.m. EST, occurring approximately four months per year with a frequency of 2–3 times weekly. Efforts focus on reducing this by effective planning and coordination.

Candidate Profile

  • Deep understanding of the convergence between manufacturing, hardware, software, and operational processes in product delivery.
  • Ability to operate within complex, cross-functional systems effectively.
  • Proactive in clarifying ambiguous situations into structured plans.
  • Exceptional communication skills for engaging senior leadership and execution teams.
  • Strong commitment to ensuring predictability and thorough preparation, avoiding last-minute crises.
  • A coaching approach that empowers teams without micromanagement.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Over 7 years of experience in technical or program management within consumer hardware, software, or connected device industries.
  • Successful track record managing cross-functional new product introductions from initial planning to launch.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hardware and software development lifecycles.
  • Experience coordinating teams spread across multiple global locations.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and program planning software.
  • Advanced communication skills with executives and stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience working in high-speed, ambiguous startup environments.

Benefits & Work Environment

  • Competitive compensation and benefits, including fully employer-funded supplemental medical insurance.
  • Flexible remote work setting.
  • Opportunity to significantly impact a rapidly expanding enterprise.
  • Generous paid time off policies.
  • Collaborative, innovative, and supportive workplace culture.
