Overview
Join ASB Bank's Infrastructure Provisioning team as a Systems Specialist in the Private Cloud Squad, helping apply cybersecurity perspectives to infrastructure provisioning. This role offers a chance to contribute to strategic projects and influence engineering practices across one of New Zealand's largest technology environments.
About The Squad
The Private Cloud Squad, part of the Infrastructure Services Platform, delivers core services powering ASB's technology environment. Responsibilities include server provisioning, vulnerability and configuration management, and compute services across teams. The squad is evolving to emphasize strategic cybersecurity initiatives to enhance efficiency and resilience.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee and support Microsoft SCCM, Red Hat Satellite, Windows, and RHEL server infrastructure and security patching operations.
- Manage third-party software packaging and deployment to servers.
- Implement and maintain secure configuration management baselines and policies.
- Handle vulnerability management tasks, documentation, and promote knowledge sharing.
- Provide basic support for VMware virtualization environments.
- Engage in squad planning, roadmap development, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Participate in after-hours support and maintenance when required.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a skilled infrastructure professional keen to tackle complex operational challenges, collaborate across teams, and foster improved working methods. Experience with Windows or Linux system administration, virtualization, and endpoint management will be valuable.
Key Skills And Experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering roles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft SCCM, Red Hat Satellite, or similar endpoint management tools.
- Strong systems administration capabilities and VMware experience.
- Solid grasp of operational cybersecurity principles.
- Experience working in Agile delivery settings.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to function effectively within regulated enterprise environments.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with scripting and automation, such as Powershell and Ansible.
- Comprehensive understanding of infrastructure operations and engineering best practices.
- Certifications in cybersecurity, cloud, or platform engineering.
- Exposure to complex, large-scale technology environments.
