Job Overview
This role represents an opportunity with a partner company based in Canada, seeking a Systems Administrator specializing in Windows environments. The position is hybrid, blending onsite and potential remote work, tasked with designing, securing, and optimizing Windows infrastructure within a dynamic technology setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and streamline Windows infrastructure to heighten reliability, improve performance, and boost operational efficiency through automation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex system issues thoroughly, conducting root cause analyses paired with sustainable fixes.
- Manage incident response efforts to restore critical services swiftly, minimizing impact on business operations.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement patches alongside remediation strategies to fortify infrastructure security.
- Engage in regular security audits and contribute proactively to elevating the organization's security framework.
- Implement privileged access strategies including Just Enough Administration (JEA) and Just-In-Time (JIT) administration to manage permissions effectively.
- Design and refine infrastructure deployment workflows applying DevOps principles, with focus on automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Craft and deploy automation scripts and modern deployment methods aimed at reducing manual efforts and enhancing operational productivity.
- Create and update thorough technical documentation to support teams and ensure consistency in operations.
- Mentor colleagues, fostering technical excellence and collaborative work culture.
- Continuously seek opportunities to upgrade and modernize Windows environments through innovative technology solutions.
- Keep abreast of emerging technological trends, contributing to ongoing improvements in infrastructure reliability and automation capabilities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- At least five years of professional experience managing Windows Server environments.
- Proficient with Windows Server versions 2019, 2022, and 2025.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps, especially concerning pipelines, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), and automation procedures.
- Expert skill in PowerShell scripting to support automation tasks.
- Familiar with Group Policy management, JEA, JIT administration, and managing privileged access control.
- Well-versed in infrastructure security principles and practices to maintain a secure computing environment.
- Experience working with telecommunications and VMware platforms considered beneficial.
- Available to provide operational support beyond typical business hours when necessary.
- Excellent problem-solving skills alongside solid analytical capabilities.
- Fluency in both English and French, with strong communication skills in both languages.
