About the Role
The Commercial Strategy team within Delivery Commercial Operations supports Commercial and DCO Leadership by enabling swift and informed decisions. This team is responsible for defining commercial strategy, developing and sustaining the commercial growth framework, assessing performance, and delivering strategic recommendations based on insights. These recommendations guide organizational priorities around growth, investment, capacity, and coverage.
The Strategy & Planning Associate will manage specific commercial strategy segments within broader strategic questions, leveraging data and structured problem-solving to address critical business challenges. Collaboration with senior leaders and cross-functional teams is key to diagnose issues, formulate recommendations, and produce decision-ready materials for various forums.
Primary Responsibilities
- Break down defined business challenges, refine hypotheses, and implement analytical plans under senior guidance.
- Lead diagnostic workstreams to pinpoint performance drivers, limitations, and intervention opportunities.
- Convert analytic results into clear recommendations and actionable planning inputs.
- Utilize SQL and other analytical tools to extract, validate, and interpret data identifying trends, anomalies, and root causes.
- Synthesize both quantitative and qualitative data into concise business findings and next steps.
- Take ownership of specific portions of recommendations, performance reviews, planning components, and analyses.
- Collaborate effectively with Commercial, Sales Planning, Finance, Operations, Product, and regional or line-of-business teams on focused projects.
- Maintain accurate and reusable analyses, assumptions registries, intervention trackers, and documentation.
- Leverage AI tools to speed research, automate repetitive work, enhance synthesis, and develop reusable workflows while verifying results and transparently reporting AI use.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment by solving unprecedented challenges and applying fresh perspectives.
Basic Qualifications
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong proficiency in SQL to query, join, transform, and validate business-related datasets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in strategy, operations, consulting, or finance roles.
- Experience with marketplace or platform business models and commercial performance analysis.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities to translate data into clear business implications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven capability to manage details, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Curious mindset, sound judgment, and comfort operating in dynamic scenarios with incomplete information.
- Working knowledge of Python, data visualization, experimentation methodologies, or process automation.
- Demonstrated responsible AI use by enhancing speed and quality, verifying outputs, protecting confidentiality, disclosing AI use clearly, and applying human judgment when needed.
Compensation and Benefits
For roles based in Chicago, IL, the base salary ranges from $95,500 to $106,000 annually. Eligible employees may participate in a bonus program, receive equity awards, and benefit from various other compensation types. Full-time staff can join a 401(k) plan and are offered a comprehensive range of benefits.
