The company is enhancing its data centre infrastructure to drive advanced AI, cloud computing, and connectivity technologies. This position offers a chance to contribute to these efforts in a dynamic and fast-developing technology centre.

We are looking to hire a Staff-level Machine Learning Applications Engineer experienced in C++ and Python for AI development within a Linux environment. The successful candidate will autonomously set technical directions, lead engineering initiatives, collaborate across teams, and mentor peers while maintaining hands-on involvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and fine-tune pivotal deep learning models on the Qualcomm AI 100 platform.
• Develop extensions for deep learning frameworks in upstream open-source projects supporting Qualcomm AI 100.
• Engage with various internal teams to optimize training and inference workflows for deep learning applications.
• Create and maintain software tools and ecosystem components around the AI software stack.
• Work on components such as Triton, ExecuTorch, Inductor, and TorchDynamo to develop inference accelerator abstraction layers.
• Optimize workloads for both vertical scaling (multi-SoC) and horizontal scaling (multi-card) systems.
• Refine the entire deep learning workflow including integration with graph compilers.
• Apply best practices in software engineering procedures.

Required Skills and Expertise

• Strong background in Deep Learning including Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Audio processing, and Recommendation Systems.
• Proficiency with C/C++ and Python programming, capable of software design, debugging, conducting performance analysis, and test creation.
• Deep familiarity with PyTorch and Just-In-Time (JIT) compilation technologies.
• Experience in contributing to and managing open-source development processes.
• Ability to define project scope and requirements independently and lead development efforts.
• Experience mentoring engineers through leadership by example rather than direct management.
• Innovative problem-solving capabilities and a research-driven mindset focused on engineering challenges.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience managing workloads on large-scale heterogeneous computing clusters is advantageous.
• Understanding of compiler technologies is beneficial.
• Hands-on experience with CUDA and cuDNN technologies is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering, Machine Learning/AI, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields.
• At least 8 years of relevant software engineering or related industry experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience programming with languages such as C++ and Python.
