About Rimba
Rimba develops a compliance and operational intelligence platform for industrial operators, turning scattered operational data into automated reporting that is ready for audits. Its customers include Fortune 50 organizations in natural gas, wastewater management, and landfill operations, where the platform helps connect live operational visibility with compliance processes and reduces manual work and the expense of staying compliant.
The company is creating modern software that blends operational intelligence, compliance workflows, and AI-enabled tools into fast, scalable products used in real industrial settings. The team works with a rapid shipping mindset, frequent iteration, and AI-assisted development practices. Engineers are expected to combine strong programming fundamentals with AI coding tools to build efficiently and effectively.
Role overview
This internship centers on building production-ready software across the frontend, backend, APIs, and internal platform tools. You will help design and develop applications, workflows, and services that support Rimba’s platform.
You will contribute directly to live systems and work closely with engineering and product teams to release features quickly and reliably. The role suits someone who enjoys end-to-end product building and is interested in modern AI-native development practices.
This is a hands-on position, not an observational internship. You will write production code, take ownership of features, and operate in a fast-paced engineering environment where speed and iteration are important.
What you will work on
- Designing and delivering frontend and backend features used by real customers.
- Creating APIs, services, and internal tools that support operational and compliance workflows.
- Working with current web frameworks and production databases.
- Using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, and similar solutions in daily work.
- Partnering with engineers and product teams to prototype ideas quickly and improve them through iteration.
- Strengthening reliability, developer experience, testing, and deployment systems.
- Writing clean, maintainable, production-quality code across the stack.
What the company is looking for
Rimba is seeking candidates with solid programming fundamentals and practical software development experience. Applicants should have experience building frontend and/or backend applications and be comfortable working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
Experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, Windsurf, or similar tools is required. Candidates should also be familiar with APIs, web services, and modern software engineering practices.
The role requires someone who can work quickly, learn independently, and handle ambiguous situations well. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also important.
Bonus experience
- Exposure to React, Next.js, TypeScript, Go, or Python.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure or deployment processes.
- Experience building side projects, startups, or shipped applications.
- Interest in AI-native development workflows and automation.
Compensation and perks
This is a paid internship, with compensation determined individually for each candidate. Additional benefits include direct access to leadership, meaningful ownership from the beginning, and the chance to work on important software challenges at the intersection of operations, compliance, and AI.
Eligibility and application details
This opportunity is open to students in the Bay Area or remote candidates. The internship is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and supports remote work.
Applicants should send a resume along with a brief note explaining their interest in the problem area to the employer’s hiring email.
Equal opportunity
Rimba states that it is an equal opportunity employer and believes that diverse teams build better products.
