Software Development Engineer II - Android

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Software Development Engineer II to join our Android team at Swiggy in Bengaluru. You will be a key contributor in designing and evolving our widely used Android app that supports millions of users in ordering food, groceries, and dining options with smooth delivery experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate across product and engineering teams to design scalable, robust, and reusable architecture solutions for the Android platform.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance Android applications using Kotlin, adhering to clean coding standards.
• Create comprehensive unit and integration tests and implement automated testing frameworks to ensure app quality and stability.
• Identify and address performance issues to optimize speed, responsiveness, and resource consumption, including conducting code reviews and profiling.
• Document technical designs, API specifications, release notes, and development processes to facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Engage with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers in Agile ceremonies and turn product requirements into effective technical implementations.
• Stay abreast of the latest Android development trends and continuously refine development approaches to improve software quality.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; master’s degree is a plus.
• Over 3 years of professional experience building Android applications.
• Proficient in Kotlin and knowledgeable of Android SDK, Android Studio, and associated tools.
• Experienced with Android architecture patterns like MVVM, LiveData, and Room.
• Strong grasp of software design principles, RESTful APIs, JSON or protobuf formats, version control (Git), and continuous integration (e.g., Jenkins).
• Excellent problem-solving aptitude, detail orientation, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment and adapt to evolving priorities.
• Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform is an advantageous addition.
