About sKids

Since 1996, sKids has been dedicated to delivering vibrant out-of-school activities filled with laughter, learning, and adventure for tamariki across New Zealand. Currently serving over 3,800 children daily at more than 170 school locations, the organisation continues to grow. Working here means participating in diverse activities such as messy art projects, science experiments, sports competitions, cooking classes, and entertaining games, ensuring dynamic days full of fun.

Position Overview

We are seeking multiple Managers for our Central Auckland locations, with exact sites to be disclosed during the interview phase. Managers will be the key figures ensuring children have memorable mornings and afternoons. The role requires a commitment of at least 15 hours weekly, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday.

  • Morning shifts run from 7:00am to 8:30am.
  • Afternoon shifts are from 2:30pm to 6:00pm, with availability from 2:30pm mandatory; finishing times may vary.
  • There may also be opportunities to work during school holidays, with hours between 7:00am and 6:00pm.

Aside from management roles, we are also recruiting Programme Assistants and Casual/Relievers for these Central Auckland sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the daily operation of sKids programmes, overseeing smooth and structured sessions from start to finish.
  • Lead and supervise groups of children, managing a variety of behaviors while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere.
  • Design and implement structured activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, offsite excursions like swimming and picnics, baking, drama, and music.
  • Effectively handle challenging behavior and support children with varying needs employing positive guidance strategies.
  • Establish and maintain robust relationships with parents, caregivers, and school staff, acting as the primary onsite contact.
  • Guide, coach, and delegate tasks to Programme Assistants to uphold high standards, accountability, and efficient programme delivery.
  • Prepare ahead by organising materials, planning engaging activities, and setting clear expectations to ensure smooth session flow.

Qualifications and Eligibility

  • Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand (valid citizenship or visa).
  • Reliable transportation to reach Central Auckland sites such as Westmere, St Heliers, Mt Eden, Remuera, and Mt Roskill.
  • Proven leadership experience managing children’s groups in similar environments (e.g., OSCAR programmes, teaching, coaching, childcare, camps).
  • Expertise in managing challenging behaviors and dynamic, high-energy groups with a calm, firm, and solution-oriented approach.
  • Experience in taking full ownership of programmes, teams, or operations rather than merely supporting roles.
  • Strong communication skills to engage effectively with parents, schools, and team members.
  • Must be over 20 years old in compliance with Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Enjoy a 50% discount on select sKids programmes – ideal if you have children.
  • Earn referral bonuses up to $250 for introducing exceptional new team members.
  • Maintain work-life balance with no weekend assignments and free midday hours.
  • Access confidential wellbeing and support through the Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Join a passionate, supportive team that values collaboration and celebrates achievements.

Additional Details

Applicants who successfully pass recruitment will need to undergo a Police Record Check to ensure child protection and safeguarding standards are met. sKids upholds a deep commitment to the safety and welfare of children and expects all team members to reflect these values in their work.
