Position Overview
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will support the store manager in managing daily store operations during your scheduled shifts. You will lead teams by assigning tasks to partners, ensuring customers receive exceptional service through timely delivery, high-quality beverages and products, and a welcoming, clean store environment. Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and knowledge that uphold the values and mission of Starbucks.
- Maintain composure during busy or unusual situations to ensure smooth operations and set a positive example for the team.
- Proactively anticipate the needs of customers and the store by observing cues in the environment.
- Communicate essential information to the store manager to help maintain the inviting "Third Place" experience for customers each shift.
- Support new partner onboarding by reinforcing good performance and providing respectful, encouraging coaching when needed.
- Provide constructive feedback to the store manager regarding partner performance during shifts.
- Help nurture a positive team atmosphere by identifying changes in partner morale or performance and reporting these to management.
- Foster a learning-oriented environment through clear, specific, and timely coaching to enhance operational excellence and partner growth.
- Deliver legendary customer service by prioritizing customer needs and fostering strong connections with guests.
- Identify and respond to unique customer requirements promptly.
- Build positive relationships with team members by understanding and addressing their motivations and concerns.
- Effectively manage store operations during assigned shifts, including organizing opening and closing duties.
- Adhere to Starbucks policies on operations, cash handling, safety, and security to ensure partner safety throughout shifts.
- Ensure the shift team follows proper cash management and register procedures consistently.
- Monitor baristas during shifts to guarantee outstanding customer service is maintained.
- Be punctual with consistent attendance to support store reliability.
- Maintain high-quality beverages, whole bean coffee, and food product standards by following recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations for all products.
- Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements using established recognition systems and collaborate with management to discover new rewarding methods.
- Utilize operational tools proficiently to promote shift excellence.
Experience and Skills Requirements
- Previous customer service experience in a retail or restaurant setting.
- Capability to direct and guide the activities of others.
- Fast learner with the ability to adapt quickly.
- Strong verbal communication proficiency.
- Understanding of retail operations and dynamics.
- Effective interpersonal skills with a team-oriented attitude.
