Senior Program Manager - Global Finance Transformation

Overview

Join the Global Finance Transformation team where you will spearhead process improvements and automation initiatives in the Accounting function to enhance efficiency. As a Senior Program Manager, you will utilize your expertise in program management, change management, and stakeholder engagement to develop flexible and scalable solutions within a complex international setting. Collaborating with subject matter experts, IT teams, and accounting and compliance stakeholders, you will simplify processes to better serve customers in a challenging, ambiguous environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Accounting leaders to lead strategic process improvement projects, create frameworks for new program rollouts, and evaluate the return on investment for automation opportunities.
• Oversee multiple global initiatives simultaneously, employing both Traditional and Agile methods to prioritize work, plan scope and resources, and steer projects through to completion.
• Maintain strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders to foster a unified 'One Team' culture, harmonizing efforts among various IT groups and Accounting departments.
• Identify and implement efficiency gains by standardizing and automating accounting processes and policies that cut across teams to hasten financial closing and ensure compliance.
• Address complex business issues by producing precise financial models, insights, and actionable recommendations that influence Amazon leadership globally.

Daily Activities

Your day involves monitoring progress across your portfolio of improvement and automation projects, conducting virtual meetings worldwide to resolve issues and align priorities, engaging with Accounting stakeholders to gather requirements, facilitating communication between IT and business users, and ensuring compliance standards are met. You will apply both Traditional and Agile techniques to manage backlogs and coordinate resources. Building strong relationships throughout the organization will be essential to your success.

Team Overview

The Global Finance Transformation team works closely across the Amazon Accounting function to enhance the experiences of accounting colleagues by expediting financial close processes, strengthening compliance, and boosting overall efficiency through standardized and automated processes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in finance roles.
• Proficient knowledge of at least one accounting framework such as US GAAP, IFRS, or local GAAP, with applied experience in daily financial operations.
• Excellent English communication skills, including speaking, reading, and writing fluently.
• Experience utilizing financial models, key performance indicators, and data analysis to inform business decisions.
• At least 8 years of experience in program or project management.
• A track record of leading continuous improvement projects that enhance controllership with measurable outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to detect incomplete or inaccurate data, identify root causes, and develop and execute escalation plans.
• Experience delivering results presentations to senior leadership.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma tools, Lean methodologies, PMP certification, or related standards is advantageous.
