Role Summary

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer position is a full-time role located on-site in Doha, Qatar. This role entails leading mechanical design efforts for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems from conceptual stages through detailed design. The engineer will be responsible for preparing and reviewing drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations, coordinating closely with electrical, architectural, and structural teams, and ensuring compliance with local codes, standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and execute mechanical design tasks for building services, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Prepare and thoroughly review engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations to uphold design quality.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts, ensuring integration with electrical, architectural, and structural disciplines.
• Lead design review sessions and provide mentorship to junior engineers and drafting personnel.
• Identify and solve technical challenges to optimize project outcomes and support value engineering initiatives.
• Participate in client and contractor meetings, address technical queries, and assist during construction and commissioning phases.

Qualifications & Skills

• Robust foundation in mechanical engineering with proven expertise in building services design (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection).
• Proficient in design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical calculation software.
• Well-versed with international and local building codes and standards applicable to mechanical systems.
• Experienced in leading projects, overseeing multidisciplinary teams, and reviewing mechanical designs for accuracy and quality compliance.
• Strong mentoring abilities with effective time and deadline management in dynamic consulting environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field; professional certifications or registrations (e.g., Grade A, UPDA) are highly preferred.
• Previous consultancy experience, ideally within Qatar or the Gulf region, with excellent English communication skills.
• Capability to work on-site in Doha and collaborate proficiently with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
