Senior Finance Analyst

About the Role

This role partners with finance leads, subject matter experts, business, and technical leaders to achieve high-quality results for both members and the Finance team, as part of the Future Bank programme—a comprehensive banking system upgrade initiative. The senior finance analyst is proactive in identifying improvements in processes and reporting to foster a simple, modern, and reliable finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Finance leads and subject matter experts to deliver project sprint and increment outputs on schedule and to high standards.
• Work closely with the Data and Reporting team to design and develop a modern finance reporting framework.
• Manage and drive all assigned Future Bank deliverables, which may involve regulatory and management reporting, securitisation reporting and processes, internal account rationalisation and design, product accounting, and bank account reconciliation procedures.
• Ensure SBS Bank meets its regulatory requirements by designing and executing thorough testing for reports and processes implemented.

What You’ll Bring

• A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a data-related field.
• Deep understanding of finance operations gained through experience in management, statutory, and regulatory reporting.
• Strong proficiency with financial systems, including maintaining or implementing reporting, planning, or general ledger systems.
• Experience within the finance division of a bank or regulated financial institution.
• Expertise in regulatory reporting specific to financial institutions.
• Skills in handling large data sets through tools like Power BI, Power Query, or comparable reporting software.
• Track record of delivering projects and managing change.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, fixed-term position lasting six months. Working hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The role is based at SBS Bank’s head office in Invercargill.
