Overview
Join the dynamic Security and Emergency Management team at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), one of New Zealand's top universities. Role Description
As a Security Officer, you will go beyond a conventional security guard role by acting as a respectful ambassador for the university. Working on campus with a committed team, you will support safety through the use of advanced security technology and proactive engagement. The role requires shift work on a rotating 24/7 schedule, including nights, days, and public holidays, operating 12-hour shifts in a 2-days-on, 2-nights-on, 4-days-off pattern.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Work collaboratively within a dedicated security and emergency management team to ensure a safe and secure campus environment for all community members.
- Utilize security technologies and systems effectively to monitor and maintain campus safety.
- Engage directly with students, staff, visitors, and partners to provide assistance and promote a welcoming campus culture.
- Serve as a university ambassador, reflecting core values and exemplifying professionalism and integrity in daily duties.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong customer service focus, excellent interpersonal communication, and the ability to mentor colleagues. Physical fitness is essential to manage the demands of shift work and on-campus patrolling. You should be self-motivated, uphold high ethical standards, and demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives aligning with AUT’s Te Aronui journey. Competent computer skills are also required.
Additional Information
- Full-time role averaging 42 hours per week.
- Shift roster includes 12-hour shifts working days and nights on rotation with 4 days off.
- Salary starts at NZD 62,029 per annum.
- Start date will be arranged with the successful candidate.
- This position operates strictly onsite across AUT's campuses in Auckland.
