School Practitioner

About the Role

We are seeking two Mental Health Support Team (MHST) School Practitioners to join Camden MHST, an early intervention initiative dedicated to supporting children, families, and schools within the local community. The MHST provides advice, signposting, brief evidence-based therapies, and helps develop mental health promotion initiatives across schools. The team is part of Camden CAMHS, serving children and young people aged 0-18.

Responsibilities

• Conduct MHST assessments for children and young people assigned to your caseload.
• Collaborate and communicate with schools, general practitioners, local authorities, and broader CAMHS teams as required.
• Engage in individual and group supervision alongside MHST managers and clinical supervisors.
• Promote child and young person participation and collect student feedback to inform services.
• Deliver time-limited therapeutic interventions and treatments.
• Refer and signpost service users to relevant external stakeholders as needed.
• Participate in regular MHST and CAMHS multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Develop MHST care plans in collaboration with supervisors.
• Maintain professional correspondence and communication.
• Connect with appropriate internal and external networks.
• Engage in multidisciplinary team activities.
• Perform risk assessments and manage risk within the scope of the School Practitioner role.
• Recognize and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately.
• Make referrals to other care providers when necessary.
• Ensure timely and accurate clinical record keeping and documentation of appointment outcomes.
• Prepare reports and letters to general practitioners.
• Communicate sensitively and skillfully with service users and stakeholders.
• Stay informed about relevant legislation, national and local policies affecting the services and client group.
• Attend team meetings and work autonomously as required.

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed training as a Child Well-Being Practitioner (CWP) or Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to be eligible for these posts.
