School Custodial Cleaner

Role overview

ABM Industries is hiring a dependable and experienced School Custodian to handle routine cleaning tasks in assigned spaces within a K-12 school, college, or university campus setting in Beaumont, Texas.

What you will do

• Keep assigned spaces clean and orderly, including classrooms, corridors, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and stairwells.
• Remove trash, debris, and spills; sweep and mop floors in the designated work areas.
• Inspect trash containers regularly and empty them whenever needed.
• Use chemical cleaning products and powered equipment according to the correct procedures to avoid harming floors or fixtures.
• Inform the lead cleaner or manager when repairs or changes are needed in building systems.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, teammates, shift leads, supervisors, and managers.
• Gather, sort, and place recyclables into the correct bins.
• Dust and clean desks, chairs, tables, furniture, fixtures, doors, window sills, floors, ceilings, and walls.
• Buff and polish durable surfaces such as wood and stainless steel.
• Wipe down tables, chairs, and equipment in food service areas.
• Relocate cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment when needed for cleaning, either by hand or with a hand truck.
• Clean glass surfaces such as interior partitions, windows, mirrors, and glass doors using appropriate cleaning tools and solutions.
• Carry out seasonal outdoor tasks such as sweeping walks, raking leaves, cutting grass, and removing snow.
• Keep restrooms clean and polished as needed.
• Follow all company, client, safety, security, compliance, and quality rules and procedures.

Requirements

• You must be at least 18 years old.
• No prior experience is required; on-the-job training will be provided.
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree is necessary.
• Previous customer service experience is preferred.
• About one year of similar work experience is preferred.
