As a Sample Preparer, you will play a key part in preparing mineral samples to analyze their chemical components. This fast-paced role entails handling and processing samples within a warehouse environment, involving the operation of specialized machinery to crush, split, and pulverize the materials. Note that the working conditions include exposure to dust, requiring protective respirators and adherence to safety standards, including being clean-shaven to ensure mask effectiveness. The position demands physical endurance and prior experience in production or similar settings is advantageous.

Work Schedule and Advancement

This casual role necessitates availability for full-time hours, Monday through Friday, with a rotating fortnightly shift pattern covering day, night, and afternoon shifts in two-week blocks. There are prospects for growth through multi-skilling, potentially leading to advanced roles in preparation, administration, supervisory, or laboratory functions. Complete training is provided to equip you adequately.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate sample preparation equipment following defined Quality Work Instructions (QWIs).
• Sort incoming samples as per client submission forms, noting and documenting discrepancies.
• Label samples using barcodes and record weights in the laboratory management system.
• Move samples to drying racks after scanning.
• Perform crushing, riffle splitting, sieving, and drying at specified temperatures.
• Run pulverising mills to produce samples that meet required specifications.
• Report issues such as moist samples or equipment faults to supervisors immediately.
• Maintain and clean machinery and work areas.
