Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Safety Officer to join our team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This position involves partnering with the Safety Manager and contractors to enhance and implement Corporate Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute Parsons' HSE Policy, plans, and comply with HSE legislation; monitor HSE performance and targets while recommending improvements.
• Coordinate with the Safety Manager and contractors to advance Corporate HSE ethics and procedures.
• Supervise contractors to ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices.
• Evaluate hazard analyses and risk assessments for major activities; monitor effectiveness of safety controls, job safety plans, and work method statements on-site; conduct HSE visits and report urgent issues to Resident Engineer for prompt correction.
• Review and track contractors' monthly HSE inspections and reports.
• Organize monthly safety meetings, establish goals to resolve outstanding safety concerns, and distribute meeting minutes for follow-up.
• Assess emergency preparedness, permit-to-work systems, toolbox talks, HSE meetings, and contractors' safety statistics and documentation in line with company standards.
• Analyze incident and accident investigation reports from contractors, communicate lessons learned, and oversee corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Perform additional duties related to the role as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or diploma in Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university.
• Minimum of eight years' experience in health and safety roles within infrastructure-related projects.
• Relevant health and safety certifications and licenses recognized in the UAE, such as NEBOSH, OSHAD Qudorat/ADOSH SF, First Aid, Fire Safety, ISO 45001, or ADVETI.
• Ability to attend physical interviews in Abu Dhabi.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• At least two years of recent experience in supervising construction of infrastructure works.
• Experience in an engineering consulting firm environment is advantageous.
• Experience working in the UAE and possession of a valid driving license will be considered an asset.
