About Halter

Halter is focused on helping farmers and graziers run highly productive, more sustainable operations. The company’s customers use its technology to move beyond the time-heavy routines of traditional grazing, creating a simpler and more efficient way of managing cattle. Halter works on meaningful, challenging problems as part of a high-performing team with a strong culture of ownership, pace, and care. The business is supported by leading investors.

Role overview

Halter’s Auckland office is busy, fast-moving, and home to about 300 people, along with a steady stream of visitors including customers, investors, candidates, partners, and board members. As the Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact and will shape the experience people have from the moment they arrive. This is an active, high-responsibility role for someone who takes pride in details, stays calm under pressure, and ensures the front door, visitor flow, and everyday office experience run smoothly.

Front-of-house and visitor experience

You will be responsible for creating a warm, organised, and professional arrival experience for every guest. That includes greeting visitors, managing sign-ins, issuing passes, notifying hosts, and ensuring no one is left waiting. You will also maintain the visitor tracker, send pre-arrival information when needed, build a tailored welcome process for VIP visitors, and collect feedback to keep improving the experience.

Mail, deliveries, and logistics

You will manage incoming and outgoing mail, parcels, and courier items so deliveries are received, sorted, and distributed without delays or confusion. A well-run process here means people do not have to follow up on packages or wonder where items have gone.

Meeting rooms and office support

You will keep meeting room bookings under control, help rooms stay prepared for use, and resolve scheduling or setup issues before they disrupt the day. If meetings need catering, you will coordinate that too. You will be the first person to troubleshoot AV or room issues, reset rooms between meetings, and raise recurring problems with Office Operations so they can be fixed properly.

New starter day-one support

You will help create a smooth first day for new team members by coordinating desk setup, building access, and welcome packs. The People team will handle onboarding content, while you own the in-office experience and ensure the physical welcome feels seamless.

Building access and security passes

You will issue and manage access cards for staff and visitors, maintain access records, work with building management on access-related issues, and make sure deactivation happens promptly when people leave.

Internal communication and signage

You will keep shared-area screens, posters, and other signage current and useful, and make sure wayfinding inside the office is clear for guests moving around the space.

What success looks like

This role suits someone who notices what needs attention before being asked, stays composed and friendly in a busy environment, communicates clearly, and follows through until things are done. Halter is looking for someone who takes genuine pride in the experience they create, works independently, and wants to be close to a high-growth company where the work matters.

Who should apply

Applicants should bring experience from a front-of-house, reception, administration, or other customer-facing role. Strong organisation, a warm and confident communication style, comfort with technology, self-direction, and a genuine interest in people and service are all important.

Benefits

  • Free snacks and drinks in the office.
  • Southern Cross Health Insurance partnership to support wellbeing.
  • 6 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers.
  • 4 weeks of fully paid secondary caregiver leave, plus additional family-support benefits.
  • Annual $1,000 self-development budget for personal growth.
  • Wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave.
  • A competitive total reward package including salary, benefits, and employee stock ownership.

Office-first working approach

Halter follows an office-first model because in-person collaboration is central to learning, growth, impact, and strong working relationships. The company uses the office as the default place of work, while allowing flexibility when needed within a high-trust environment.

Application process

To apply, candidates should submit a cover letter explaining why the role and Halter are a strong fit, along with a CV. Halter welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and encourages people to apply even if they do not meet every listed requirement.

Diversity and inclusion

Halter says it is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where people can be themselves and do their best work. Candidates who meet most, but not all, of the requirements are encouraged to get in touch.

Why people enjoy working here

The team values work that makes a real difference, talented people solving complex problems, ongoing learning and autonomy, and the challenge of helping reshape a major industry. The environment is described as fast-moving, demanding, and highly rewarding.
