Job description

Role Overview

SAIC is seeking an experienced Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to join the team supporting the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) with installation and integration of C4I system racks and components. This role supports system communications verification and is responsible for RF cabling, terminations, operational testing, and documentation updates across RSNF vessels, command centers, and training facilities located in Riyadh and Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

Key Duties

  • Provide technical support for analysis and evaluation of RF systems.
  • Conduct Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) surveys pre- and post-installation to assess EMI baselines and any changes post-equipment installation.
  • Prepare detailed EMI summary reports highlighting findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engineering on system designs, software installation, equipment testing, and troubleshooting improvements.
  • Construct test cables and prepare for upcoming project segments during downtime.
  • Investigate RF quality issues, report results, and update documentation to reflect agreed corrective actions.
  • Maintain, repair, and perform functional tests on communication circuits including Radio (UHF, VHF, HF, VSAT, UHF SATCOM, LINK-11/16) on land and maritime platforms.
  • Utilize specialized test equipment and software diagnostics to isolate and fix malfunctions.
  • Execute repairs based on technical orders, manufacturer manuals, and local procedures; implement equipment modifications as per engineering change plans.
  • Perform troubleshooting down to component level, including handling Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
  • Conduct soldering tasks using 3M workstations or portable soldering irons, and perform RF and fiber optic cable termination and testing.
  • Provide complex technical problem solutions requiring data evaluation and factor analysis.
  • Engage in frequent cross-organizational and customer interactions representing the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years of relevant experience; alternatively, six additional years of experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Active Secret security clearance with eligibility to maintain it; US Citizenship is mandatory.

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of system hardware equipment.
  • Experience with radios including UHF, VHF, HF, VSAT, KVH SATCOM, NTDS/TADIL data links.
  • Knowledge of Networking technologies such as Cisco IOS and UPS systems like APC and Clary.
  • Familiarity with GPS, CENTRIXS, GCCS-M/J, ADSI, SY-117G, and RF7800 series radios.
  • Component-level troubleshooting and repairs with ESD precautions.
  • Soldering skills using 3M workstations or portable irons.
  • Proficiency in fiber optic cable termination and testing.
  • Experience with configuring and testing KG-250 and similar RF communication protection devices.
  • Competence in installation and configuration of software including Microsoft Windows (7/10), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio), AutoCAD, ADSI, CENTRIXS, and GCCS-M/J.

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Full-time position with day shift schedule.
  • Travel requirements up to 10% of work time.
  • Potential onsite presence balanced with remote work flexibility.
