Job description
Role Overview
As a Purchasing Specialist, you will manage international procurement of outsourced production and contract manufacturing, focusing on scheduling, cost efficiency, and quality standards. Your role includes order processing, comparing offers, monitoring deadlines, handling complaints, maintaining data, and nurturing supplier relationships through visits and communication. You will collaborate closely with internal departments, work on developing existing and new supplier connections, and identify opportunities for cost savings. The position also involves project participation in a dynamic environment, managing short-term changes and new requirements, and supporting product launches through iterative development.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international sourcing of third-party manufactured products and contract manufacturing, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Prepare and manage purchase orders, conduct offer comparisons, oversee schedules, handle complaints, and maintain accurate data records.
- Visit suppliers and attend trade fairs to strengthen relationships.
- Engage and communicate effectively with internal expert teams.
- Continuously develop current and new supplier partnerships.
- Identify and realize cost-saving potentials.
- Support projects within a dynamic setting, accommodating last-minute changes and evolving requirements.
- Contribute to product rollouts with continuous iterative improvements.
Qualifications
- Completed degree in business administration or equivalent commercial education/training.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and international procurement market research is an advantage.
- Proficiency with MS Office and SAP R/3.
- Fluent English with strong negotiation skills.
- Reliable demeanor, negotiation acumen, and willingness to travel.
- Independent, solution- and result-driven working style.
- High adaptability and pragmatic approach to shifting priorities and conditions.
- Preferably, some understanding of artificial intelligence and its application possibilities.
