About the Role

Our Purchasing Strategy & Digitalization (PS&D) function within Volvo Group Purchasing leads strategic purchasing initiatives globally, focusing on digitalization, governance, harmonization, and synergies. We collaborate across functions to drive continuous improvements and business value.
The Purchasing Associate role is embedded in the Purchasing Support Center, a dynamic team supporting global purchasing activities for all Group trucks, buses, and Penta sites. This position provides an excellent learning platform alongside seasoned supply chain professionals and offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to society’s future sustainable transport solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently maintain Handler Logs and manage order portfolios including prioritized aftermarket requisitions.
- Manage Request for Quote (RFQ) processes: initiate, track supplier responses, and address queries in partnership with buyers and cross-functional teams.
- Collect, evaluate, and prepare comprehensive summaries and cost breakdowns of supplier quotes for multiple parts.
- Resolve portfolio-related challenges by coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams, including handling supplier price discrepancies.
- Conduct various analytical assessments for buyers and managers such as price inconsistency, 80/20 rule application, ABC analysis, volume trends, supplier dashboard creation, cost level reporting, spend analysis, part price evolutions, cost per kilogram, and supplier deep dives.
- Support supplier integration initiatives, including establishing EDI connections, managing supplier portal access, administrating supplier bases, and following up on supplier information updates at buyer requests.
- Assist in taxonomy and segmentation efforts, maintain departmental dashboards, and prepare reports to aid management and segment owners.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Engineering (BE/B.Tech) in Mechanical, Automobile, Electrical & Electronics, or Industrial Engineering.
- Fast learner with a drive for competence development and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills and proficient understanding of manufacturing processes and cost best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities to engage and connect within the ecosystem.
- Positive, collaborative attitude and energetic commitment to Volvo Group’s success.
- Advanced MS Office capabilities, especially Excel programming skills.
- Proactive work approach is essential.
