About the Company
A well-established global mining operator is embarking on a non-process infrastructure project at an overseas mining site. The organization is seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead this critical initiative.
Role Overview
The selected Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing expansion projects including camp and warehouse facilities as well as other support infrastructure enhancements. The role encompasses managing the entire project lifecycle from Pre-Feasibility through Feasibility, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), procurement of long-lead items, detailed design, and execution phases, ensuring outcomes are safe, cost-efficient, and on schedule.
This position is based in Brisbane, Queensland, with the flexibility of 1-2 days per week work from home and occasional overseas site visits lasting about five days each until project completion. Only candidates residing in Brisbane are eligible.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute project management duties in line with the company’s Project Management System, including meticulous cost control, scheduling, progress reporting, and forecast management.
- Lead the Pre-Feasibility, Feasibility, and FEED stages by developing detailed scopes, execution strategies, and cost estimates to inform investment decisions.
- Engage and oversee consultants delivering design, engineering, and cost estimations to produce Class 2 estimates and detailed executable designs.
- Create and update integrated project schedules (Level 5), risk registers, and mitigation plans across study, design, procurement, and construction phases.
- Define and control project scope concerning non-process infrastructure updates such as accommodation blocks, warehouses, workshops, and auxiliary services.
- Coordinate necessary investigations and enabling works, including geotechnical, civil, and survey analyses to support design delivery.
- Maintain active stakeholder engagement with on-site operations, technical teams, and corporate functions to ensure infrastructure solutions meet operational demands.
- Plan workforce needs and camp sizing aligned with Life of Mine projections and construction phases.
- Manage identification and procurement of long-lead items, implementing early supplier interactions aligned with EPC contracting methods.
- Develop a comprehensive Project Execution Plan, outlining execution strategy and resourcing to effectively transition into construction stages.
- Contribute to contracting strategies, including tender evaluation and contract awards, and supervise project progression through construction and commissioning.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
- Proven track record managing infrastructure or capital projects across the full lifecycle within mining or heavy industry contexts.
- Thorough understanding of EPC contracts, execution strategy formulation, and contractor relations.
- Experience in feasibility studies, cost estimation, risk assessment, and governance reporting.
- Applicants must possess full Australian work authorization and be based in Brisbane.
Opportunity Highlights
- Engagement on a large-scale gold resource mining project.
- Primarily Brisbane-based with periodic overseas site travel.
- Participate in an internationally significant mining infrastructure upgrade.
