Role Overview
We are seeking a Civil Project Manager based at Lisgoold WwTP, County Cork. The position offers a competitive salary and involves leadership in civil engineering projects within the water and wastewater sector.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar civil project management role, preferably within the water and wastewater industry.
- Strong knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, with a preference for candidates holding a Management Safety certificate specific to Construction Managers.
- Experience in civil engineering works including bulk earthworks, cast in-situ concrete, precast installation, building works, pipe laying, and site finishes is highly desirable.
- A level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
- Capability to engage in financial negotiations and finalize accounts with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Proficiency in project management software like Microsoft Project for preparation of baseline and update programmes.
- Ability to independently solve problems and adapt project delivery as challenges arise.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Possession of a full driving license.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and sustainability standards and procedures on-site.
- Collaborate effectively with clients, client representatives, and third-party agencies to ensure project success.
- Promote a collaborative and cooperative ethos to enhance client experience.
- Lead the civil engineering and building construction teams throughout project execution.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering disciplines.
- Act as the Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) on live sites, coordinating all necessary documentation and liaising with designers and PSDP roles.
- Regularly conduct health and safety inspections, lead toolbox talks and whiteboard meetings.
- Implement best practices in project management such as Lean Construction and Last Planner methods.
- Monitor project performance with respect to risk, opportunities, schedule, budget, and HSQE standards, mitigating risks and managing opportunities accordingly.
- Report monthly project performance to framework management.
- Oversee procurement processes for supplies and subcontractors ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
- Manage project cash flow and coordinate timely submission of interim payment applications alongside Contracts and Commercial Managers.
- Participate actively in resource management and recruitment as a hiring manager, and contribute to tendering processes for future projects.
- Address client and stakeholder complaints promptly and gather client satisfaction feedback to inform improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and new technologies via continuous professional development.
