Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator to oversee, implement, and monitor a Nature-Based Solutions initiative in Ghana's Upper East and North-East regions, with occasional visits to the Tamale office and other countries where Tree Aid operates. The one-year renewable contract includes a 3-month probation period, contingent on performance and funding availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute project plans aligning with schedules and budgets, ensuring timely achievement of milestones.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation such as progress reports and updates.
- Assist in generating new project proposals, sourcing funding opportunities, and enhancing organizational visibility.
- Coordinate carbon credit development by managing validation and verification procedures, and ensuring adherence to project standards like Verra 0047.
- Engage with stakeholders including farmer groups, community representatives, and land tenure systems to facilitate project success.
- Foster partnerships with funding bodies, government entities, and local communities through workshops and capacity-building events.
- Monitor and analyze project performance data, producing insightful reports and sharing lessons learned with partners.
- Ensure compliance with Environmental and Social Governance policies, identifying and mitigating related risks.
- Apply Nature-Based Solutions principles effectively throughout project delivery.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Master's degree or higher in natural resource management, environmental science, rural development, forestry, project management, agricultural economics, or related disciplines.
- At least 5 years' project coordination experience, preferably within greenhouse gas removal or sustainability sectors.
- Deep understanding of greenhouse gas removal methodologies and standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration capabilities.
- Proficiency with project management software and tools.
- Capacity to work independently and in team settings within dynamic environments.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience managing tropical forest or afforestation projects.
- Skilled in data analytics and reporting tools.
- Knowledgeable about local and global carbon markets.
- Proven NGO representation and partner relationship management experience.
- Autonomous work style, particularly in startup program contexts.
- Financial management acumen.
- Experience liaising with government officials and donor agencies.
- Strong commitment to Tree Aid's values and mission.
- Computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite, Teams, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and data analysis software (including RHOMIS).
- Valid driving and riding licences.
Additional Information
- Location primarily in Upper East and North-East regions of Ghana.
- Frequent travel to Tamale and other countries where Tree Aid operates.
- Contract duration: one year with possibility of renewal, subject to performance and funding.
- Strict adherence to environmental and social governance standards is mandatory.
