About Lumilens

Lumilens is pioneering essential photonics infrastructure that will fuel the future of AI supercomputing. We develop innovative chip-to-chip optical interconnects and scalable photonic engines, revolutionizing performance by making computing faster, cooler, and vastly more efficient. As a well-backed startup led by experienced industry veterans, Lumilens offers a unique opportunity to fundamentally reshape optical technologies from the silicon level.

Join a team of top-tier engineers tackling challenging problems in optics, systems, and scale, where your contributions will directly influence how we source, produce, and deliver groundbreaking photonics solutions.

Role Overview

The Production Planner role is vital in scaling and organizing optical and silicon production for next-generation photonics products. Responsibilities include crafting and managing production schedules, overseeing material requirements, and maintaining smooth flow of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods through manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, issue, and manage production schedules along with material requirements to ensure effective flow of raw materials and approved finished products supporting optical and silicon production needs.
  • Construct and uphold balanced production plans aligning demand, master schedules, shop loads, material availability, and manufacturing capacity across photonics and assembly lines.
  • Provide management with updates regarding work in progress, material stocks, inventory status, and potential supply or production disruptions for cost-effective and timely execution.
  • Coordinate scheduling of equipment and personnel, validate material supply and demand, and prepare necessary work orders and purchase requests to support production.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, logistics, and demand planning teams to support ongoing production and new product introductions (NPI).
  • Interface with engineering and operations teams to transition new optical and silicon products from development phase to pilot and high-volume production, ensuring readiness of materials and schedule synchronization throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Track movement of parts and assemblies via move orders, stock transfers, and shipping requests to guarantee production timeline adherence.
  • Analyze inventory risks, backlogs, and back-orders to maintain supply availability and develop contingency plans protecting customer commitments.
  • Lead and manage assigned projects by collaborating across departments, driving schedule compliance, improving inventory accuracy, and refining production planning processes continually.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • At least 4 years in supply chain, production, or material planning roles; advanced degree holders with minimum 2 years relevant experience also considered.
  • Proven experience managing production scheduling in a manufacturing setting with thorough understanding of material flow, inventory management, and schedule control.
  • Strong analytical ability to assess work-in-progress, supply status, and production constraints supporting on-time delivery goals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively with manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and supply chain teams.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and solve problems efficiently within a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ERP systems and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tools in supply chain management.
  • Background in optical, silicon, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing environments, including involvement in NPI, pilot builds, and production ramp-up phases.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, analytics, and statistical methods from education or professional experience.
  • Project management expertise, relevant certifications (APICS CPIM, PMP, Six Sigma/Lean/DMAIC), or advanced degrees.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and operating within ISO 13485 and FDA-regulated environments.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, with aptitude for conveying key concepts clearly to stakeholders.

Benefits and Culture

  • Competitive remuneration reflective of experience.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and certification support.
  • Exposure to state-of-the-art photonics and advanced manufacturing technologies.
