Why Join Us?
- Develop software solutions that tangibly improve patient care and streamline NHS staff efficiency.
- Exercise real ownership and considerable influence over project outcomes.

- Gain valuable experience addressing business, engineering, and product challenges within a single role.
Typical Day-to-Day Activities
- Participate in morning meetings with clinical personnel to uncover pain points in workflows.
- Analyze and resolve complex issues found in clinical environments including legacy electronic health records (EHRs), integration challenges, and staff adoption barriers.
- Design prototypes and deliver solutions like new features, system integrations, and workflow automations.
- Collaborate with DrDoctor’s core team ensuring clinical insights translate into the product roadmap.
- Train healthcare staff on new functionalities and document how solutions enhance clinical operations.
This position requires onsite presence at client locations approximately 60% of the time, with travel expenses covered. It is ideal for someone energized by engaging directly with the heart of clinical environments.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven software engineering ability with consistent delivery of production-quality code.
- Capability to diagnose intricate workflow problems without prior NHS experience.
- Effective communication skills with clinical and hospital staff, maintaining technical accuracy.
- Comfortable managing ambiguity and rapidly clarifying project scope through dialogue.

- Enjoy seeing end users interact successfully with your delivered software.
- Experience in developing integrations or bespoke solutions for complex clients.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, TypeScript, Go, or Rust.
- Knowledge of API design, system architecture, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Background in software engineering with direct exposure to customer or user collaboration, preferably in healthcare, SaaS, consulting, or embedded engineering roles.
Preferred but Not Required
- Experience in healthcare or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with NHS or UK healthcare sector.
- Previous embedded or implementation engineering roles.
- Strong passion for making a positive impact in healthcare.
