Position Overview
We seek a knowledgeable and commercially adept Portfolio Manager to direct and refine a varied portfolio with an emphasis on Alternative Investments and Real Estate. This position involves comprehensive portfolio management duties including the formulation of investment strategies, asset allocation, risk management, and performance enhancement. Candidates with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sponsorship or licensing will be given priority. The role demands significant expertise in alternative asset classes, structured finance, and portfolios characterized by illiquidity or limited liquidity.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and supervise diversified portfolios focusing on real estate, private credit, and alternative investment methods.
- Lead investment appraisal, due diligence, deal structuring, and transaction execution processes.
- Manage credit underwriting related to private lending and structured finance projects.
- Handle real estate investments including acquisition, performance tracking, and exit planning.
- Construct portfolio strategies that balance return goals, liquidity limitations, and risk tolerance.
- Perform sophisticated financial modeling, valuation exercises, and scenario assessments.
- Track macroeconomic indicators and sector trends impacting alternative assets.
- Deliver investment proposals and portfolio analyses to senior management and investment committees.
- Implement rigorous risk management, promote diversification, and work to preserve capital within the portfolio.
- Collaborate with fundraising and compliance departments to synchronize investor goals with portfolio strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Between 3 and 10 years of advancing experience in portfolio, investment, or asset management.
- Proven expertise managing Alternative Investments and Real Estate portfolios.
- Strong knowledge of structured investments and credit risk evaluation.
- Highly proficient in financial modeling, valuations, and analytical assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SEC sponsorship or active SEC license is a significant advantage.
- Possession of a Master’s degree or MBA.
- Experience with portfolios that are illiquid or semi-liquid.
- Documented success in generating risk-adjusted returns in African or emerging markets.
