Role Overview

Multiple openings exist for enthusiastic customer service professionals to join the Station Customer Service team as Porters across the South East Queensland network. As the public face of Queensland Rail, Porters are responsible for delivering exceptional service to every passenger journey.

Work is based in CBD locations such as Fortitude Valley, Central, and Roma Street stations, with potential duties at other stations. The position operates under a rotating shift schedule, with shifts starting as early as 4:00am, late nights up to 2:00am, including weekends and public holidays.

Compensation and Employment Types

• Entry-level hourly pay rate is $38.29 from March 2025.
• Flexible employment options include full-time fixed-term contracts (up to 6 months), full-time permanent positions (both averaging 76 hours per fortnight), and casual roles with no fixed hours.
• Full-time roles average an annual income around $85,141 (excluding shift penalties, public holidays, and overtime), plus 12.75% superannuation.
• Casual employees receive $38.29 per hour plus 23% casual loading and superannuation.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers and Queensland Rail property through monitoring and taking appropriate action.
• Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with special needs using wheelchair ramps.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of station facilities and surrounding areas, including some manual lifting.
• Maintain a visible and approachable presence at the station to support customers.

Additional Information

Applicants will undergo alcohol and drug screening, psychometric tests, health assessments, and background checks, including criminal history and credit verifications where applicable. Qualification verification will be completed to ensure alignment with Queensland Rail requirements.
