Role Overview

The PlayStore at Marbles offers an engaging selection of educational and whimsical toys aligned with the museum's exhibits and developmental goals for children. We are looking for a spirited PlayStore Host to foster enjoyable shopping experiences, managing opening and closing duties, customer transactions, and maintaining the store's appearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all opening and closing procedures for the store.
• Deliver superior customer service in line with Marbles’ standards, ensuring positive guest interactions.
• Communicate operational matters such as scheduling and inventory concerns to management effectively.
• Handle register operations and accurately process purchases.
• Stock and organize merchandise, including participation in inventory and receiving shipments as guided.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store, including tidying and correcting merchandise placement.
• Sanitize work areas and carry out special projects when assigned.
• Assist with product unboxing and tagging under the direction of the PlayStore manager.
• Stay knowledgeable about store products to provide helpful suggestions to customers.
• Fulfill additional duties as delegated by the manager.

Qualifications and Experience

• Preferably one year of customer service experience, especially working with families and children.
• Retail experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory software (experience with Shopify and Tessitura is beneficial).
• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team setting.
• Efficient multitasking, goal-setting, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and stooping throughout shifts.
• Capacity to stand for extended periods.
• Occasional use of ladders and stair navigation.
• Regularly lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule

• Preferred availability from Thursday to Sunday.
• Flexibility required for weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts.

Work Environment

• Exposure to busy and occasionally noisy settings.
• Possible walking between buildings including outdoor areas.
