About the Role
Chewy is seeking a skilled Photographer to become a vital part of our Dallas-based in-house Product Display Picture (PDP) studio team. This role involves producing high-quality photography of products and pets that aligns with the brand identity and enhances the shopping experience for customers. Successful candidates will collaborate closely with creative and production teams to ensure photographs meet artistic and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Photo Creative Director, Art Directors, Stylists, Pet Wranglers, and Project Managers to produce dynamic product and lifestyle pet images in line with creative briefs and brand guidelines.
- Manage all phases of photography projects from planning and execution to final image capture, maintaining clear communication on progress and addressing any challenges proactively.
- Design and implement studio lighting setups tailored for product and lifestyle photography for both studio and on-location shoots.
- Assist in technical scouting for shoots and coordinate with various departments to ensure seamless operation during photography sessions.
- Collaborate with teams on and off set to deliver projects punctually without compromising image quality or consistency.
- Maintain and organize photography tools and equipment, including cameras and lighting gear, to ensure optimal studio readiness.
- Stay informed on industry advancements, new technology, and best practices in product and pet photography to continually enhance technical capabilities.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least three years of professional experience, preferably in a commercial or e-commerce studio setting.
- Portfolio demonstrating expertise in product photography, lifestyle imagery, and studio lighting techniques.
- Proficiency with DSLR camera operation, studio strobe lighting, and editing software such as Capture One.
- Strong foundation in lighting principles, composition, exposure, and color management to ensure consistent photographic results.
- Creative artistic vision to effectively transform concepts into captivating images that uphold brand standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and follow creative direction.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently in a high-paced production setting.
- Familiarity with diverse creative studio software applications.
- Physically able to handle and transport photography equipment and shoot from various angles, including at ground level.
- Passionate about working with animals and knowledgeable about animal behavior to capture genuine and appealing pet photos.
- Comfortable working around all types of pets with necessary safety and respect.
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time as needed.
- Adaptable to evolving production schedules based on business demands.
