Painter and Decorator

Position Overview

jLiving is recruiting experienced Painters and Decorators to join our Maintenance Team, servicing residential properties primarily in Northwest London, with occasional travel to Hemel Hempstead, Margate, and Brighton as required. This is a fixed-term, full-time position (18 months) offering a salary of 36,000 per annum. The role is hands-on and customer-centric, focused on delivering superior finishes and maintaining welcoming environments for residents.

Working Hours and Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, equaling 37.5 hours weekly. During winter months and on Jewish High Holy Days, Fridays conclude early at 2:30pm.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform internal and external painting and decorating tasks across the housing stock, focusing on communal areas including corridors, lounges, and other shared spaces.
• Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
• Work considerately within the resident environment to ensure positive customer interactions.
• Follow all company policies rigorously, especially relating to health, fire safety, and confidentiality.
• Ensure compliance with relevant property and facilities legislation.
• Collaborate effectively with Housing Managers, maintenance staff, and residents.
• Prepare surfaces through filling, sanding, and repairs as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• At least five years of experience in painting and decorating.
• Possession of City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 certification in Painting and Decorating.
• Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and pride in work quality.
• Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and punctuality.
• Ownership of basic tools; all painting materials will be supplied.
• Valid UK driving license and access to a personal vehicle for traveling between sites; mileage expenses reimbursed.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check due to work involving vulnerable adults.
• Understanding and application of health and safety protocols, including working at heights and safe handling techniques.
