Job description
Role Overview
As a Paid Per Call Firefighter with Kenora Fire and Emergency Services, you will contribute significantly to community safety by responding promptly to emergency calls, assisting in firefighting and rescue operations, and supporting fire prevention programs that safeguard lives and property. You will also help ensure all vehicles, equipment, and facilities are well-maintained and ready for use at any time.
Recruitment Process and Eligibility
The hiring process involves multiple steps, with dates subject to change. To qualify, applicants must have a principal residence or employment within the municipality or be able to reach the fire station quickly. Proof of residence within the fire station catchment area is required at application. Candidates must possess a valid Class G driver’s license, have or qualify for a Class D license with a Z endorsement, and maintain a clean driving record. A high school diploma or equivalent education is needed. Effective oral and written communication in English is essential. Candidates should be physically fit and able to sustain intense physical activity.
Training and Remuneration
Training aligns with the standards set by the National Fire Protection Association. Compensation is provided per hour worked, including response times to incidents.
Safety and Insurance
Firefighters receive personal protective gear as per Occupational Health and Safety regulations and City policies. Workplace Safety Insurance coverage is also provided.
