Role Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Trade Operations Associate to join our Middle Office team, responsible for delivering middle office functions in a dynamic environment. This role involves constant interaction with portfolio managers, traders, brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely trade confirmations and settlements, along with completing daily operational deliverables and trade-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Trading, Fund Accounting, Technology, and Risk teams across all trade lifecycle events involving various asset classes including equity products, total return swaps, exchange traded derivatives, OTC derivatives, foreign exchange, and fixed income securities.
- Assist with booking trades, processing lifecycle events, supporting profit and loss inquiries, and executing daily reconciliations.
- Handle trade allocations, affirmations, settlements, exercising and assignments of options, and other associated responsibilities.
- Track essential corporate action events and coordinate with multiple portfolio managers and prime brokers on voluntary corporate action elections.
- Implement processes related to corporate actions for both equity and fixed income instruments.
- Provide advice to Middle Office, Valuations, and Cash Reconciliation teams regarding corporate action discrepancies at system or prime broker levels.
- Monitor trade management platforms such as prime broker portals and administrative systems.
- Partner with Reconciliation and Control teams to ensure internal records and books are accurate.
- Identify process inefficiencies and collaborate with internal and external resources to develop precise requirements for problem resolution.
- Understand strategic objectives to assist senior leadership in optimizing workflows and reducing operational risks.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal teams and external parties.
- Carry out thorough due diligence to resolve issues promptly, avoiding financial or reputational harm.
- Stay informed on industry best practices to improve operational policies and procedures.
- Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by senior management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally focused on finance, economics, or a related field.
- At least three years of relevant professional experience.
- Broad understanding of financial instruments including equities, fixed income, options, swaps, futures, and foreign exchange in both domestic and international securities markets.
- Strong expertise in interest rate swaps, swaptions, and exchange traded derivatives is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of fixed income and futures delivery processing is advantageous.
- Experience with systems such as Traiana, OSTTRA, Trax, Orchestrade, Geneva, and Bloomberg is beneficial.
- Self-motivated with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Capability to prioritize daily tasks, manage ad-hoc requests, and handle escalated issues from internal and external stakeholders efficiently.
- Proficient in Excel at an intermediate or advanced level.
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- High proficiency in computer skills with quick adaptability to new systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
