Job description

Role Overview

This full-time position, based in Darwin, NT, involves managing archival services for the NT Newsroom at ABC. The role includes selecting audiovisual content from the news production system, applying metadata, and transferring clips to the ABC Archives for future reuse and repurposing.

Work Schedule

  • Option for flexible hybrid work with two scheduled remote days weekly
  • Includes approximately one weekend shift per month
  • Rotating late shifts about once per week
  • Some public holiday work required

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with newsroom staff and content creators to manage and share news content
  • Curate audiovisual materials in line with ABC policies
  • Identify key pieces of content for reuse and production needs
  • Conduct archival research to support news stories
  • Assign detailed metadata to ensure footage is easily searchable
  • Manage the transfer of content between active data and archival systems

Candidate Profile

  • Preferably possess local knowledge of Darwin and the Northern Territory
  • Strong familiarity with various media formats, especially video
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and time management to meet deadlines
  • Effective communicator, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Dedicated to crafting authentic content representing diverse communities
