About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Middleware Engineer with deep expertise in IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and related enterprise integration platforms. This key position involves designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining integration solutions to enable seamless communication between diverse business applications, databases, APIs, and external systems. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive hands-on experience working with IBM ACE, IBM Messaging Queue (MQ), REST and SOAP APIs, ESQL programming, message transformation techniques, enterprise integration patterns, continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), and API management. The role aims to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, high-performance, and highly available.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and sustain enterprise-wide integration services using IBM ACE and related middleware technologies.
- Create reusable message flows and integration components adhering to industry-standard integration patterns.
- Develop and maintain RESTful and SOAP-based APIs ensuring robust API lifecycle management and secure integrations.
- Implement synchronous and asynchronous integration solutions leveraging IBM MQ technologies.
- Analyze business and technical requirements to craft enterprise integration architectures and reusable middleware components aligned with organizational standards.
- Perform data transformations and validations using XML, JSON, DFDL, CSV, MRM, XMLNSC, and ISO8583 formats including message mapping and schema validation.
- Configure and optimize IBM MQ for reliable, asynchronous messaging including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Create and execute unit and integration tests; participate in debugging and quality assurance activities using tools such as SOAPUI and Postman.
- Manage source code with Git and support automated build and deployment pipelines via Jenkins within a DevOps environment.
- Provide production support by monitoring integration services, performing root cause analysis, resolving failures, and optimizing performance to ensure system stability and availability.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including design documents, integration and API specifications, deployment guides, operational procedures, and architecture documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business analysts, solution architects, developers, QA, infrastructure, operations, and business users in an Agile development environment; mentor junior team members and uphold development standards.
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Software Engineering, or related technical disciplines is required.
Experience and Skills Required
- 8 to 10+ years in enterprise integration development with strong hands-on expertise in IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and IBM Integration Bus (IIB) or WebSphere Message Broker.
- Experienced in IBM MQ messaging infrastructure including asynchronous communication and message queue management.
- Proficient in REST and SOAP web services development, API design, security, and lifecycle management.
- Skilled in ESQL programming, shell scripting, and middleware message flows development.
- Ability to transform and route data formats such as XML, JSON, DFDL, CSV, MRM, XMLNSC, and ISO8583.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL with SQL proficiency.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices including Git version control, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
- Experience working under Agile/Scrum methodologies with emphasis on SDLC adherence, code reviews, documentation, and production support including root cause analyses.
- Operating system proficiency in Linux, AIX, and UNIX environments.
- Preferred experience in microservices architecture, container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes), OpenShift, cloud integrations, and knowledge of banking, financial services, or insurance domains.
