Role Overview
We are expanding and seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, selection, and commissioning of critical process equipment and structural elements, advancing carbon capture initiatives from concept through to field implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support design and enhancement activities for carbon capture facilities.
- Manage the complete mechanical design lifecycle, including analysis, fabrication, and assembly of static equipment and structures.
- Create detailed 3D and 2D models for mechanical components such as equipment internals and structural parts.
- Collaborate with Process, Civil, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams to deliver integrated equipment layouts and optimize costs.
- Take full responsibility for mechanical packages including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, plant mechanical equipment (rotating), and structural systems.
- Prepare technical documentation such as Material Datasheets and Material Requisitions.
- Review and evaluate design packages submitted by vendors and subcontractors.
- Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and HAZOP assessments.
- Assist with commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing, and start-up procedures of carbon capture systems.
- Report regularly to the Engineering Manager.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years experienced in designing complex mechanical systems.
- Skilled in 3D/2D modeling and detailed design for mechanical systems.
- Proficient in comprehensive mechanical design from analysis to fabrication and assembly of static equipment and structures.
- Expertise with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Navisworks software.
- Advanced knowledge of Piping Stress Analysis using Caesar II compliant with ASME B31.3.
- Competence in Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS or similar tools.
- Experience preparing Material Datasheets, Material Requisitions, and conducting technical bid evaluations.
- Demonstrated background in pressure vessel and static equipment design.
- Strong emphasis on optimization of layout and cost, design for manufacturability, and modularization techniques.
- Familiarity with design validation, sourcing components, and iterative product development.
- Experience with RFQ preparation, managing client reviews, deviation requests, and addressing site technical queries.
- Adaptable and communicative, comfortable working in an entrepreneurial setting.
- Ability to manage and schedule daily and project operations to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Inventor, PV Elite, and STAAD.Pro software is a plus.
