Mechanical Draftsperson

About the Role

Our Mining Wear Parts division located in Yatala is looking to employ an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be instrumental in producing precise technical drawings, reverse engineering components, and collecting key engineering data both onsite and within the workshop.

This position primarily requires office work but includes occasional travel to Mineral Resources Limited (MRL) operational sites and client locations to support engineering projects. The role operates full-time, Monday through Friday, based in Yatala.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate detailed technical drawings utilizing Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD software.
• Reverse engineer components via various measurement tools, including 3D scanners and manual instruments.
• Participate in the design and development of machinery parts, structural elements, chutes, liners, manganese steel components, and related items.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections on parts and components as needed.
• Identify and propose enhancements to engineering products and processes while prioritizing safety.
• Adhere to rigorous drafting procedures to ensure uniformity and regulatory compliance.
• Travel occasionally to client and MRL sites to provide engineering project assistance.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to achieve superior engineering results.

Candidate Requirements

• At least three years' documented experience in drafting and engineering within the mining, quarrying, or recycling sectors.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD is essential.
• Strong understanding of mining equipment and engineering concepts.
• Meticulous attention to detail with a commitment to producing error-free, accurate drawings.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities, capable of handling multiple projects effectively.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Dedicated to maintaining workplace safety at all times.
• Desirable: experience with 3D scanning and reverse engineering methods.
• Possession of a current Australian driver's licence is preferred.
• Familiarity with MRL operational systems, procedures, and safety protocols is an advantage.
