About the Company and Job Location
The position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha By Anantara, part of Minor Hotels, a global hotel owner and operator managing over 530 properties under various brands across six continents. The resort prides itself on offering exceptional experiences tailored to diverse traveler needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update detailed records for marine vehicles at the resort.
- Oversee all repairs and upkeep of water-based vehicles such as speedboats, dive boats, barges, whalers, rowing boats, pontoons, and dhonis.
- Provide maintenance support for land vehicles like golf carts and buggies when needed.
- Document all service activities, including repairs and replacement of parts for boats, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring equipment is in sound working order.
- Attend to maintenance of power house generators and machinery as requested.
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules diligently.
- Perform electric arc and oxy-acetylene welding and undertake minor fabrication and metalwork when qualified and required.
- Recommend system improvements to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement resort engineering policies, standards, and procedures effectively.
- Coordinate maintenance requests, providing timely feedback upon completion.
- Assist with scheduling and forecasting marine maintenance workload.
- Participate actively in fire prevention training and safety programs.
- Support initiatives to improve procedures and reduce engineering expenses.
- Maintain comprehensive records relating to marine vehicle operations and engineering assignments.
- Ensure engineering services meet established quality standards and safety requirements.
- Perform inspections to ensure cleanliness and orderliness in engineering workshops and areas.
- Help organize accurate procurement of spare parts in collaboration with storekeeper.
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of engineering staff as needed.
- Collaborate with Assistant Chief Engineer for daily work follow-ups and with Chief Engineer on engineering budget reviews.
- Attend shift duties, respond promptly to service requests, and participate in daily briefings, meetings, and training sessions.
- Comply with Anantara’s safety, fire, hygiene, and environmental policies, including energy conservation programs.
- Support resort contractors, assist other departments with specialized services during events, and act as a fire brigade team member when assigned.
Candidate Qualifications
- Preferably male candidates.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant mechanic experience, particularly in marine or resort vehicle maintenance.
- Proficient English communication abilities.
- Strong technical skills with a good personality.
- Capability to handle work-related stress and multitask effectively.
