Role Summary

This full-time, on-site position in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, release, and monitoring of materials used across training, projects, and daily operations. The Material Controller will keep inventory records accurate, maintain stock levels, and make sure supplies are replenished on time.

The role also requires checking incoming deliveries for correctness and quality, arranging and labeling materials properly in storage areas, and documenting every movement of stock. In addition, the Material Controller will work with trainers, project leads, and vendors to estimate material demand, support planned activities, reduce delays caused by shortages, and help improve material-handling procedures while staying aligned with safety and audit requirements.

Key Duties

• Manage the flow of materials by receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking items used for training, projects, and operations.
• Maintain precise inventory records and ensure stock information is updated regularly.
• Review incoming deliveries for quantity accuracy, condition, and overall quality.
• Label, sort, and organize materials properly in storage locations.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for all stock movements and material transactions.
• Coordinate with trainers, project leads, and suppliers to anticipate future material needs.
• Support timely replenishment of supplies and help avoid work interruptions caused by shortages.
• Assist in periodic inventory checks, audits, and process improvements.
• Follow workplace safety rules and promote safe handling and storage of materials and equipment.

Required Profile

• Solid capability in inventory management and stock control, including tracking material movement and maintaining records.
• Exposure to procurement coordination, supplier communication, and follow-up on delivery timelines.
• Comfort using spreadsheets or inventory tools for data entry, reporting, and basic analysis.
• Strong organization, time management, and multitasking skills.
• High attention to detail when verifying materials, checking paperwork, and updating logs.
• Good communication and teamwork skills for working with internal teams, vendors, and logistics contacts.
• Basic knowledge of workplace safety, storage practices, and proper handling of materials.
• Minimum education of a high school diploma; a diploma or degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related discipline is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in material control, warehousing, logistics, or a related function is preferred.
• Must be willing to work on-site in Port Harcourt and adapt to a fast-moving, training-centered environment.
