Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Marine Mechanic to take on the role of Workshop Operations Manager at our Hornsby workshop. This position suits experienced marine mechanics wishing to advance into management or workshop leaders who enjoy performing technical hands-on work. The role involves managing daily workshop operations alongside executing complex diagnostics and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate daily workshop activities to maintain seamless, efficient workflow.
- Conduct diagnosis, servicing, and repair across diverse marine engines and related systems.
- Organize job planning, scheduling of work orders, and maintenance programs.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and training for technicians and apprentices.
- Communicate with customers, suppliers, and management to ensure project requirements and expectations are met.
- Contribute to spare parts management and stock control, including job costing as needed.
- Uphold safety standards, quality assurance, and compliance within the workshop environment.
Candidate Profile
- Possess trade certification as a Marine Mechanic or qualifications in Heavy Vehicle/Automotive Mechanics with substantial marine experience.
- Have a minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory or senior role within a workshop setting.
- Demonstrate strong technical expertise with marine engine systems including outboards, inboards, and marine electronics; experience with Mercury brand engines is highly advantageous.
- Exhibit effective leadership abilities with excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset.
- Hold a valid Driver's Licence; a Forklift Licence is considered an asset.
