Role Overview

The Manufacturing and Process Engineer will oversee manufacturing and industrial engineering operations, maintain documentation and reporting, collaborate with customers and departments, and lead projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and process improvement. Responsibilities include planning and executing projects, conducting capability studies, packaging and layout assessments, and coordinating engineering changes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects end-to-end, including justification, scheduling, budgeting, design, feasibility assessments, PFMEAs, try-outs, launches, and final approvals.
• Conduct equipment and process capability and throughput studies (OEE), providing recommendations for improvements.
• Perform industrial engineering studies and recommend enhancements.
• Assess packaging processes, costs, and recommend optimized solutions.
• Evaluate and suggest improvements for plant layouts.
• Develop and maintain relationships with equipment suppliers, integrators, vendors, and customers.
• Produce reports, charts, and presentations for senior leadership.
• Collaborate with multiple departments to improve production efficiency, quality, safety/ergonomics, and throughput.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee equipment relocation, modification, installation, and maintenance.
• Assist in establishing preventative maintenance programs and spare parts inventory for new machinery.
• Help resolve quality, operational, layout and maintenance issues.
• Coordinate implementation of customer-approved engineering changes, including updates to parts, process sheets, and tooling.
• Understand and apply process documentation and customer-specific requirements.
• Lead preparation of PFMEAs, Safety Work Instructions, Lock Out Placards, time studies, throughput capability studies, and packaging documentation.
• Adhere to Operational Procedures and Policies consistent with Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental programs (e.g., IATF 16949, TS16949, ISO 14001).
• Ensure compliance with Ontario Health and Safety Act and JFE Shoji Power Canada’s Supplier/Contractor/Environmental Health and Code of Conduct.
• Confirm all equipment and process changes meet current Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
• Provide technical assistance to Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience within the manufacturing sector.
• Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proven skills in problem-solving, business communication, and team leadership/training.
• Experience with metal forming processes is advantageous.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-resolution skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills at all organizational levels.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and related software.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production setting and collaborate across functions while respecting confidentiality.
• Demonstrated teamwork capabilities and flexibility to adjust working hours to meet customer requirements.
• Availability to travel internationally approximately 5-10% of the time.
• Mindset oriented toward continuous improvement in all aspects of work.

Additional Information

This is a permanent, full-time role based onsite in Burlington, Ontario. The salary range is between $83,000 and $95,000 annually, dependent on experience. Note that the company does not accept agency resumes and is not liable for any fees related to unsolicited submissions.
